Jackets
Jackets generally reach down to a mans waste, are thick and heavy long-sleeve upper-body cover. The main purpose of jackets is to keep the man wearing the jacket warm in cold environments. In the early 1900's jackets were used for a similar purpose, but were much more formal and could be worn all night at a get together. The term jacket in todays society refers to the over coat that you use to keep warm when the cold air starts blowing.
Because most men need jackets for atleast a few months a year when it cools down, many different styles and designs of jackets have popped up, everything from the extremly heavy and warm jacket to regular jackets that display symbols of a mans favorite sports team or the name of the company who made the jacket. Jackets are also designed for specific regions so that generally warmer climats don't hold an excess of -40 degree jackets.
